Headquartered in the beautiful seaside community of La Jolla, California, JC Resorts is a well established, privately held company that places continued emphasis on owning, developing and managing premier resort, golf and commercial properties. The Company currently owns and operates the following resort properties: Rancho Bernardo Inn (San Diego – 287 rooms and 18 holes of golf), Surf & Sand Resort (Laguna Beach – 165 rooms), Temecula Creek Inn (Temecula – 130 rooms and 27 holes of golf), and Scripps Inn (La Jolla – 14 rooms). In addition to the resort golf courses noted above, other championship quality golf course properties include Twin Oaks (18 holes), Oaks North (27 holes), Encinitas Ranch (18 holes), Ute Lake Ranch (18 holes) and Reidy Creek (18-hole, par 4 executive course). The Company also operates the JC Resorts Golf School at Encinitas Ranch. JC Resorts owns its oceanfront corporate headquarters building in La Jolla as well as an adjacent 65,000 square foot research building outfitted for use by the active San Diego biotechnology sector.

THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Regional Controller will work closely with the General Manager’s and other members of the senior leadership team in maintaining the quality and integrity of the monthly financial results. The position will be responsible for the annual budget process as well as monthly forecasting. The Regional Controller will be involved with the IT department as it relates to financial software and focus. The role must provide financial modeling as special project analysis is required for corporate development initiatives.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
The Regional Controller will be based at JC Resorts’ central accounting office located at the Rancho Bernardo Inn, a four-star resort located in Rancho Bernardo, California. He or she will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. The Regional Controller will also be interfacing with owners of managed resort and golf course properties.
MISSION:
The Regional Controller has overall responsibilities for financial reporting, policy and internal controls of resort and golf operating entities. This position will play a lead role in creating efficiencies in the financial and accounting department by implementing cutting edge technologies. Through these vehicles the Regional Controller will take the accounting department to the next level in terms of trend/ratio analysis, productivity and accuracy. Recruit, supervise and train the team to be able to easily absorb additional assets without a strain on the current entities.
Duties:
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Organize and drive the annual budgeting process for all Company operating entities, which includes setting deadlines and ensuring that the accounting department as well as the operations team meet set timelines.
2.Review the Company's cash position daily, and plan for the maintenance of adequate funds through cash and other financial forecasts, to meet outstanding and planned commitments. Work with various operating entities and corporate departments to coordinate expenditures with forecasted cash flow.
3.Check appropriation requests against approved budgets prior to committing funds; exercise accounting control to ensure that budgeted expenditures do not exceed authorized levels.
4.Supervise the monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting and the delivery of related statements and analyses on a timely basis (timeliness is crucial so that positive trends may be exploited and negative trends may be immediately addressed). This includes oversight of all of the inter-company balances to ensure that they are current each month. Provide appropriate commentary, statistics, ratios, charts, etc., so the reports are a user-friendly, meaningful tool for executive management and ownership.
5.Interpret operating results as they affect the financial aspects of JC Resorts, making specific recommendations that will result in cost reductions, profit improvement and benefit to the Company overall.
6.Key Company contact for all internal and external audits on accounting matters and work cooperatively to maximize efficiency. These include municipal audits, sales tax, use tax, and all hotel and golf financial audits and/or reviews.
7.Establish and enforce policies and procedures for all hotel and golf Accounting, Payroll, and Night Audit, while regularly reviewing and updating said procedure.
8.Supervise the Company’s fixed asset ledger and work with outside CPA to ensure accuracy of depreciation and write offs.
9.Create a positive working environment that is enjoyable and highly productive. Hire, fire, build and lead a high-performance team that is service and results oriented, committed to the timely delivery of accurate information.
10.Keep the Corporate Controller and Chief Financial Officer informed as to the status of all material issues and related successes/problems. Perform special projects as requested.

Qualifications:
The Regional Controller must be an extremely well organized, take-charge professional who makes things happen, and who has a strong orientation to quality, accuracy, and timeliness. The Regional Controller must be an open, willing communicator who is not uncomfortable or shy dealing directly with challenging issues. Communication is a key ingredient to success in this position. The Regional Controller must also be professional and ethical, demonstrating personal integrity, loyalty, tact, sound judgment, openness and diligence.
Accounting Skills:
The right candidate will have a detailed understanding of U.S. GAAP, as well as tax and other regulatory reporting, financial forecasting, budgeting and balance sheet reconciliation. Many different accounting issues arise at the same time so the position requires a great deal of multi-tasking. The work will require a person to be detail oriented as well as organized and efficient.
Experience / Credentials:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA certification. Demonstrated ability to train staff and ensure luxury resort customer service. Must have a minimum of eight years “hands on” experience in the accounting close and review process as well as seasoned supervisory skills. Hotel experience is preferred.

COMPENSATION:
The compensation package includes an excellent base salary plus incentive cash compensation.
