Description:

Seasonal Position from May to Oct.  Responsible for managing a 200 plus seat dining room in the historic Paradise Inn Hotel and a staff of 30. POSITION SUMMARY: Direct all phases of Dining Room operations, maintaining excellent service in adherence to established procedures. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Aloha POS, credit card terminal and computer. NATURE AND SOURCE OF SUPERVISION: Receives direction from the Food and Beverage Manager.

Duties:

KEY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES: • Promotes the spirit and intent of Guest Services Hospitality Standards. • Proactively monitors safety/security awareness and related issues in your unit. • Promote Career Development and Workplace Diversity. • Schedule and train staff • Edit time cards • Opens and closes Paradise Inn dining room as a seasonal operation, training and motivating employees to provide exceptional guest service. • Complete monthly inventories as required • Maintain daily linen compliment, communicating with Food and Beverage Manager and laundry supervisor as to what may be needed. • Monitor and maintain proper levels of silverware, glassware and china sufficient to handle daily business needs. • Be on floor at all peak hours of operation of dining room (self or assistant). • Personally handle any guest situation stemming from or pertaining to food quality or service complaint, accident or dining room procedures. • Check dining room appearance each meal service watching for clean chairs, tables and floor, proper table setting, etc. • Conduct daily shift meetings to instruct, inform and address issues. • Conduct regular shift meetings to review and promote specials, upscale selling techniques, wine service and desserts. • Check staff's opening and closing side duties for completion. • Check staff's appearance each meal service to ensure company guidelines are being followed. • Run station chart and seat guests when needed. • Monitors all cash handling and reports to meet compliance standards. • Assists as needed in all areas of dining room. • Works split shifts when needed. • Performs such other related duties as directed or required.

Qualifications:

PREREQUISITES: Education: High school graduate plus some college preferred. PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS: • One year experience as supervisor in high volume restaurant. PERSONAL QUALITIES AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively. Must be able to write legibly as well as read and understand directions and instructions. Appearance must be in compliance with company guidelines. Must wear company approved slip resistant shoes;  must have MAST and Servsafe certification.  Will be required to perform diverse physical tasks. Must be able to stoop, bend, grasp, and perform repetitive motions. Extensive walking and stair climbing. Good physical energy, stamina and agility. Exposure to wet floors. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds frequently with assistance. Must be service and safety oriented. Must possess a sense of awareness, timelines, urgency, humor, and common sense. Must be able to adapt to the isolation of national park life.
